A departure into earthier tones - rusts, burgundies, and deep violets. The irises are painted with a loose, confident hand, their petals twisting in thick ridges of paint. I kept the background soft, allowing the structural weight of the flowers to push forward into the viewer’s space.
The Science of 3D Texture: We use a rare 3D Metis scanner - used by only a handful of artists worldwide - to capture the topography of the original oil paint. This data is then sent to a specialized Swiss Q Flatbed Printer, which physically rebuilds the brushstrokes layer by layer using specialized fine art ink on a solid wood panel.
